Wheatland, Wyoming is a small town of 3,700 people located in the Eastern part of the state (70 miles North of Cheyenne, Wyoming). Housing, and sometimes even hotel rooms, can be difficult to find.
The power plant Laramie River Station (LRS), operated by Basin Electric Power Cooperative, is located a few miles Northeast of town. During the spring time each year, a large influx of contractors floods into Wheatland to conduct major maintenance on the power plant during a planned unit outage. Hotel rooms more than double in price and quickly book up in the months of March, April, and May.
Some property owners will lease apartments for weekly rates that are competitive with hotel rooms during the height of the outage. Contractors looking for temporary furnished housing and prospective long term tenants can View Wheatland Rentals owned and operated by RSG-Enterprises.
